GREEN SPOTS INSIDE
When I cut open my ripe red tomato, it had a large green spot inside. Anyone had this happen? Any theories on why it happened? Did I do something wrong? Is there something wrong with the seed? I don't know the variety as I lost my labels.

Heirloom tomatoes do not have the gene for uniform ripening. There is nothing wrong with them.

My avatar is an "un-touched-up" original photo of a tomato I grew several years ago. My experience is that most of the time, the tomato took some kind of injury during its formation and early development period. This can involve bruising early on that only shows up during mature ripening.
