Feed or Medicate Them First?
There was a strong north wind today when I noticed the tomato plants in the raised bed. They were wilting. The wilt got worse as the day went on until they were in the shade. Now, they look much better. They are not overwatered or under watered. they looked great until today.
There were originally 17 tomato plants in the raised beds, but one was infected with RKN. There are 16 plants now. They are all cherry tomato plants and most are putting on a lot of flowers and tomatoes. I'm wondering if I should feed them in the morning with Alaska Fish Food 5-1-1, or should I use either Daconil or Garden Safe Fungicide 3? I have read not to mix different products when spraying tomato plants. I am confused, but I'm thinking I could spray AFF 5-1-1 tomorrow morning and the Fungicide in a few days. What is really odd is that the tomatoes out in the main garden that I know has RKN in it in at least 3/4 of it - look perfectly fine. The pictures are all of the raised beds. I have had to water more than normal this spring due to the high winds sucking the moisture out of the plants. Why not feed them and water them at the same time and then apply the Daconil afterwards. Or were you giving them foliar feeding?

Bill, you are right. I could water with the Alaska Fish Food, and then spray with the fungicide. In the past, I used the Alaska Fish Food for foliar spraying only - I forgot you can water with it.
It hasn't rained here in almost 3 weeks and we have had a lot of wind drying things out. Even in the area on our property that is heavy clay has dried out enough to drive on. A month ago, you couldn't walk on it without sinking and sloshing through it. You have answered my question. Thank you. |

When I overdo things - I forget details. It's insecticides and fungicides that you don't mix together and spray all at once. That's what I remember reading about.

Talking about rain :
Today we were supposed (per forecast ) to get some heavy thunderstorms all day. Guess what ? Nothing came down. It was a cool nice cloudy day. For the next 8 days, there is no rain in the forecast. But then, who knows !! The forecast can be wrong. I will do fungiciding morrow, as part of my preventive routine.

Salt I have never foliar fed my plants on purpose with anything.
I just mix the stuff up and dump it after I water. Worth |

Worth, that does sound a lot easier.
The plants did wilt a lot today in the sun, but I didn't expect instant improvement. All I can do is keep trying. But realistically, I know what is happening to them. |

In some cases , foliar feed can bypass the root system.
