"Home Grown Tomatoes" the song
This may have been discussed before but I was listening to a gardening talk radio show on PRN today and they played this song.
I have been listening to country music for about 60 years and had never heard it: https://youtu.be/6TWwyhCVBDg Several people have recorded it, including John Denver. Last edited by JerryHaskins; August 12, 2017 at 10:17 PM. |

I'm an old school country music fan, but do like a few of the present ones. Give me Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, Ray Price, Merle Haggard and I'm generally happy. I attended Ray Price concerts for 52 years.
Guy Clark was in the mold of Tom T Hall and John Prine as far as telling a story. He was on my bucket list of concerts to attend but he never left Texas very much. He passed away last year. I like the way he sang "Home Grown Tomatoes" in the later part of his life. A little touch of realism in that song. Other great ones were "L A Freeway" and "Desperados Waiting for a Train". He had a special way of presenting the "ordinary" things in life. |
