Purple Passion
I planted a row of PP seeds and when they came up, one was potato leaf and one was regular leaf. At first I thought maybe I had a random seed or I had miss marked them. After looking at the SSE yearbook, it has this tomato under pinks as a regular leaf and then it has it listed under Others/ as a potato leaf. Are those the same tomato?

No, I've not grown it, but Suze has given you a reasonable explanation.

Anyway, according to his listing on pg. 440, Neil (IL LO N) obtained seed from Al (OH AN A 06), and Neil indicates it's unstable. So I guess he got PL when he grew it out, and is listing it as such. OH AN A is the other lister in '07 on pg. 329. As for why a variety might end up listed in both Pink-Purple and Other Colors, sometimes this happens with darker varieties. It can be a matter of perception (and/or growing conditions) as to whether a variety is seen as 'purple' or 'dark'. Also, the lister specifies which category a variety gets listed in. |
