This Pink Berkeley Tie Dye is literally...Gold!!
But boy was she delicious!! When cutting it I was overwhelmed with tomato scent. Flavor lasted for a long time! Of course beautiful color.
She was green on the vine, faded to gold-ish color with minimal red stripes. As she ripened, she REALLY got gold. Very different to see. I tried my best for pics but I still think it didn't get the true color of her. Interesting to see the next one to ripen. Greg Last edited by gssgarden; June 7, 2019 at 09:30 PM. |

Greg,
Beautiful tomato! You must be in Eastern, NC. I will not have ripe tomatoes for another 3 weeks. I am in Central NC Deborah |

PBTD is such a cool looking tomato it almost doesn’t have to taste good.
Glad it does though! Solar Flare - also Brad Gates - is another, and is easier to grow in my climate. |

In the photograph the tomato almost looks metallic.

The taste for me is at least a 9. Can't get enough of them...and that's the problem. Never a big producer for me.
It's funny how there was only a little green near the stem. That's it. Greg |

I have grown a few GGWT plants that had fruit with the metallic stripes almost dominating the red stripes. Your tomato looks gorgeous!

PBTD is the tomato I have to grow every year. I have never seen one so gold. I tend to get just a few flecks of gold for me. When ripe, the red is more like the color of red wine.
A beautiful tomato. The flavor is fantastic. It also does well in a variety of conditions. It isn't picky about needing much sun or a lot of heat. Even in challenging years it performs better than most. |
