Default That Russian Tomato

Since the name reads too generic to the search engine within the site- I am looking for pictures and a description of this tomato for my garden tags. Anyone have info or pics I could add? Thank you!

Tatianna's Tomatobase has 29 varieties listed with the word Russian in the name and several more with the the Russian word for "Russian". None are "That Russian Tomato."

Where did your variety come from and who had the seeds if you grew it from seed. Maybe it was renamed because whoever sold it couldn't remember the real name.

Need more info about this variety to suggest an original name. Usually all tomato varieties with the word Russian in the name are renamed. People just dont know the real Russian names for such varieties.

Update- the seeds actually came from Carolyn's last offer via Farmer Shawn. Andrey , I think I saw you sent many seeds to her-does this sound like anything you recall? Did anyone else get these seeds from the offer and is anyone else growing them?

I've sent seeds of many Russian tomato varieties to Carolyn during 15 years so it's really difficult to identify. If you show me some pictures of this plant in the future hopefully I will try to regognize. Possibly you can see your old e-mail with Carolyn where you may discuss such variety and this will help you to find out which is That Russian tomato she mentioned.

PNW THANK YOU! I couldn't find it but you did. Here is what Carolyn said so all don't have to click
"Ted, are there TWO varieties named That Russian Tomato and I ask b/c the one I know is

Indet, RL,red beef/blunt heart,huge slicer, great flavor.

It was offered in the seed offer this past Spring and the person who sent me the seeds said he got it at the diner where Roxy gave him the seeds and Roxy said she got it from an old man who just called it That Russian Tomato.

Carolyn, who doesn't remember you getting any seeds from this last seed offer, please correct me if I'm wrong and I can also check with Shawn who was sending out seeds requested.."

So lets have it under this funny name That Russian Tomato

If we have 2 strains of it they could be This Russian Tomato and That Russian Tomato

Yes, these were from a Carolyn's offer several years ago, and was included in this winter's offer because I still have quite a few seeds. I am not the grower who saved the seeds for the original offer, and don't know who did grow it out, but I tried it and liked it well enough that it has become a staple in my garden. But I'm afraid I can't tell you any more about it than what has already been posted. Sorry!

Through the past year I have become amazed by the great variety of Russian tomatoes available to their gardeners. Check here - http://sibsad-nsk.ru/internet-magazin-2/folder/tomaty - a single site which lists over 750 varieties, and your browser can translate it to English. And many thanks to Andrey who has patiently answered my questions about Siberian hearts and assisted with my learning.

Sibirskiy Sad is a best seed vendor in Russia for me. They invent so many interesting Siberian amateur and commercial tomato and other vegetable varieties during the past 20 years.
