First Artichoke (and 1st attempt at picture upload)
Planted 6 artichokes against a fence last year and had 1 to bloom out this year. Figured there wasn't any sence in killin the darned thing, since it wasn't going to be much of a meal with just 1 of em. Figured I'd save seed from it. Beautiful purple flower really attracts the bumble bees.

Very beautiful. It looks like you have another next to it. I grew some from seed but I do not think they will bloom this year.

Good eye IMISS, had 3 more to come up since this picture was taken a month ago. From what I have read, you stand a chance of having artichokes the first year if you chill the seeds (have read different figures; 1 week- 1 month) prior to planting. BTW, the other 3 chokes that came up were smaller and they will be sacraficed in a non ritualistic fashion upon the BARBQ grill
