First Earl's Faux; 64 Days

I got my first Faux today and several more are about ready. Anyone else eating them yet? If so, any comments?

I started seed the first week of March, and I just now have one fruit the size of a marble. I'm thinking Earl's Faux was not meant to be grown in Alaska!

Earl in case you missed the "Showdown at Suze's" topic in the S.E. Texas Tomato Fest forum, Earl's Faux was #1 in Suze and my informal tasting at her house of 49 varieties.

Every one I've had has been better than the last.

It has been exceptionally tasty (if not productive) in my garden and both tasty AND productive in Suze's.

Feldon, yes, I saw that, and commented somewhere. :-) It really is silky smooth to the palate and has an acid/sugar flavor combination unmatched. As you and Suze are a couple of my favorite people, I'm really pleased that y'all are growing it and are as pleased with it as much as I am.

Ate my first EF of the year yesterday (your seeds Earl, as were the Dr. Wyche's which I wrote about in a different thread and which is a new favorite - guessing SFT in your long ago gw competition was the second best tomato related thing that ever happened to me; Carolyn's book 1st). It was about 76 days for me, but I'm a horrible record keeper. EF and Cherokee Green are my two all time favorites. EF is just a straight-up fanfriggintasitc tomato. I agree that it has a silky smooth texture and a wonderful deep, balanced flavor with a long smooth finish. The one I ate was double blossomed and HUGE. I wish I had my camera around to take a pic before I destroyed it!

I am growing EF for the first time this year (got it from Tomato Growers catalog). We ate the first one last night and it was quite delicious. Unfortunately, I have placed it in what has turned out to be poor soil and it won't have a very large yield. The Brandywine next to it has exactly zero tomatoes, so it looks like Earl is in for next year and Brandywine is out (to be planted in better soil, of course).

I picked my first EF on July 21. It could have stood another day or two on the vine, but I've lost quite a few fruits to critters so I brought it in early. It was seeded on March 17 and went in the ground around May 7. This particular plant was a backup that I squeezed in after everything else was planted out. Here is a photo taken this morning of the one I picked.
