Burying Pepper Stems

When potting up pepper plants (with their first set of true leaves), is it ok to bury half of the stem? Will roots form along a pepper stem?

I can tell you that it doesn't hurt 'em at all. Burying the stem makes it easier to pot up and will help support the plant.

As far as I know roots will not form along the stem.

Thanks! I wanted to “lower” them a little so they, although 2 weeks further along, will be about the same height as my up coming tomatoes ... allowing them to reside under the same light.

I did it Bitwise Gamgee, like NCTim said, they are ok. I did it to the tomatoes (the buried stem will root later), aubergine and tomatillo too.

Have done it that way for years.....NO problems whatsoever.

Thanks Tomaat and obispo45 for the replies! I potted up the peppers about 3 weeks ago, burying the stems deep. ... they are doing great.
