Default OK their up now what????

My seeds have come up and are about an inch or so high when should I repot them? i bought 4 inch peat pots and miricle grow potting soil to transplant them to. I started then in the jiffy peat pellets (the expanding ones) Another question???? The temps here have been in the high 60's low 70's during the day so i have been putting them outside all day. Do i still need a grow light if they stay outside all day, I dont want them to be leggy. also when transplanting how far do i cover the stem or does it matter? Whew this is like waiting the arrival of one of my children, but i think starting seeds helps with my available plants and is much cheaper....thanks ya'll Gizzard

I usually repot after they get their second set of true leaves.

No, if you are growing them outside and they are getting good sun, you shouldn't need the grow light too.

I transplant deep, almost up to that first set of true leaves, as more roots will form along the stem.

My Bloody Butcher plants already have buds on them.

One more thing -- re the jiffy pellets, you might want to take the netting off of them before potting up (I would). That is, if they are the ones with netting on them.

The seed coat contains all the nutrient the plants need until 1-2 weeks before planting out. Check out Craig LeHoullier's repotting plan--it works easier and better than others. Remember--tomatoes are weeds--you have to do your level best to kill them.
