Default Where's The Seed (Ashleigh)

I have heard good things about Ashleigh and went to the source, Neil Gillard who named the the variety to give it a try. All I can say is wow concerning production and taste. As far as seeds are concerned it's a 1. This tomato is all meat. I grew it out in a 7gal container and it just kept putting out these beautiful over a pound red beauties. I picked eight 1+ pounders last week and today opened them up to get and save some seed for next year. I'll let my pictures do the talking including the glass jar holding all the seed collected from the 8 fruits. Ami

Ami, you've seen me praising this variety for several years now and I offered seeds for it in my seed offers here and have sent it to several places for trial.

I know Mike at Victory Seeds had listed it as one of his new ones for 2009 and then pulled that, probably b/c he didn't have enough seeds.

I can't remembers if I sent it to Linda at TGS and I thought I'd sent it to Glenn at Sandhill, but don't see it listed in the 2009 catalog but didn't check the website. I'll check out Linda at TGS and Glenn at Sandhill, but my remaining seeds are from 2004. I think I also sent it to Adam Gleckler but would have to check out my list on that as well.

And yes, we have Neil to thank for this one, original seeds from Macedonia, and I was so pleased when he sent me the seeds.

Neil is pretty amazing. I got some seeds for Plourde from him. Has anyone tried that? I can find little or nothing about it.

Default plourde

Plourde is (from memory) medium to large red, not quite round, a bit flattened and it was very productive for me. In fact, when first set out, a cutworm got it, I replanted after it got new roots and it went on to outperform most if not all the others.
It originated with Aurelius Plourde of St.Alexandre de Kamouraska, Quebec, whose family has grown since 1925.( I looked that up!)
Taste was excellent in my opinion.

I did save seeds from a heck of a lot of them. The plants grew real well for me so I had an abundance of fruit.

That's making me laugh Ted....the only tomato I've run across with a lower seed count than Ashleigh is Yellow Cookie. The only difference is Ashleigh is amazing and Yellow Cookie made my "waste of space" list this year.

I do have seed from last year's Buffalo-Niagara-Western-New-York TomatoTasteFest. Granted not huge quantities, but some. Got you covered AZRuss.

i grew ashleigh a few years ago and got lots of seeds.
hmm.
maybe i'll give her another go this year. mine were not so big or so meaty.
