Some general questions

I had a bunch of plants outside that I started early this spring. Well most of them started to die off about a month ago. I took some cuttings from one of the plants that was really healthy and stuck them in some compost and dirt that I had put into some coffee cans. They took root real well. Now, I dont know what to do with them. I brought them inside the house today. They need light though, right? What should I do?

Well if your saving a type of tomato which you have no seeds.... I'd get a shop light and make a grow box out of a large box with aluminium foil on all sides and top and place the coffee can in the box. Continue growing it till you can take a 2nd cutting and start rooting the 2nd cutting till you get to Spring and plant it outside again.

A grow box. Ok. I have a couple of shop lights around here. Thats what I will do. I think I am going to order one of those 150 watt HPS lamps. Thank You very much for the response.

I also use those plastic coffee tubs for tomato plants.Mostly dwarf varieties.Put them in a nice sunny window.The tubs work great dont they? And easy to carry with the built in handle.Also ,you can make homeade Earthboxes out of cat litter tubs. Barry

I found some 4' long 2 bulb T12 fixtures at Lowes for $4.00 each. Then, a box of Daylight (6000 lumens each) bulbs was $20.00 for 10 bulbs. My seedlings were growing up through the roof (so to speak). This was easy on the pocketbook and the electricity bill.

I will look into those
