Default a tomato fool

you guys, i've definitely caught the tomato bug. i just harvested this black from tula, and it's my first 'real' tomato. in the past few weeks, i've harvested some early girls, juliets and jaune flamme, but the first 2 are hybrids, and the last is pretty small.

i picked this BFT, and just cradled it for the longest time, admiring how darn beautiful it is. i went around the house, placing it in different lighting. and i actually rubbed the smooth bottom on my cheek (my face, my face, not the other cheek).

i just wanted to share my elation with all of you tomato lovers.

btw, is there a swear-word blocker on this forum? i originally used another d-word before 'beautiful,' and it was changed to something ned flanders would say

When people question my sanity as to why I'm growing so many tomatoes, I show them a tomato like the one you have pictured and then they get real interested.

Great picture.

i kissed it goodnight last night.

i ate it today, and it didn't quite live up to my expectations. i expect, however, that it's because 1) i had watered it that day, and 2) it's the first fruit off the plant which i've heard isn't usually the tastiest. there was a nice lingering aftertaste though.

today, i picked another BFT, 2 Black Krim and 1 Paul Robeson. i'm looking forward to doing side-by-side comparisons.

jbinkc,
i did show it to my hubby, but refrained from bringing it into work. the young hipsters there wouldn't appreciate it. and thanks.

nctim,
hehe, i don't think people will question my sanity just yet, as i only have 10 tomato plants. but wait til next year! and thanks for the nice words.

holy cow, worth!
alaska, i'm jealous. i was on a kayaking trip there a couple years ago, and loved it. have a safe trip.

kctomato,
that's hilarious. does mischka have a big mustache too?

matermama,
you're too funny. i'll give your plants a long-distance cheer. maybe it'll help them along.
