Default Beefsteak Toms on The Small Side?

I am growing 4 Beefsteak variety Toms thihaves year. The seed package said extremely large often exceeding 2lbs, 96 days from transplant. Most of the toms on these plants are getting ripe and are more about golf ball size, far under 1lb. Right next to these plants I have plants making many 1-2lb toms. These beefsteak plants have been hit a little harder by bugs, but none the less the small size is suprising to me. Has any body observed this kind of thing before with beefsteak(small size)?

Thanks for the info KCtomato.
The fruits are very good and have almost no seeds, definately the most meaty variety I have. I don't know if I will grow them again as I like larger Toms.

Default Big beef

KC,

My Big Beefs are doing great, many in the 1+ pound plus range. They have a nice sweet flavor. I'll probably grow them again.

Vince.

I have to second that. Big Beef is an all around great plant for production, flavor, and vigor. Definitely a must-grow. I've grown beefsteak, and as I recall, I was not impressed.
