New Big Dwarf is really the inspiration for the entire dwarf project....reading about how it was created in the 1915 Isbell seed catalog led to the discussion Patrina and I had on Garden Web about taking that approach and expanding upon it! When I first got it out of hiding in the USDA collection in 1995, I was really surprised at how large the fruit grew and how good the tomatoes tasted. The meatiness of NBD comes from it's daddy, Ponderosa.
