Default Austin, Tx Tomatoes

didnt know where to post this but hopefully some one in the Austin, Tx area can answer for me............

I was told that HEB's in austin gets all their tomatoes form a grower outside of Elgin, Tx.............

any truth to this?

I dont know of any commercial tomato growers outside Elgin.

And I have never seen a box of tomatoes with Elgin Texas on it or any surrounding town.

I am getting a little tired of HEB taking good products off the shelves here in Bastrop and replacing them with the HEB brand too.

I am going to san antonio next weekend and was thinking of going thru Bastrop/Austin and pick some some fresh homegrown maters but if they are typical store bought I wont waste the gas......
we are shopping more and more at Kroger because of HEB pushing more and more of their private label merchandise...........

Bastrop farmers markets have home grown but they are not open on Sundays I think.

There is one outside town towards Austin (Hwy 71) on the left dont know what the name is but it is about 3 miles out or so in a bunch of trees.

I miss Krogers and shop a lot in Austin at Randal's, Central Market and such.

I will be going to san antonio on friday..........where is the farmers market located in Bastrop?
there are several markets located in the houston area but most are 75 miles from me and doesnt pay to dead head to there and back........
