Default So here's an interesting mystery....

In growing for our seedling sales, I decided to grow out the 2 regular leaf seedlings that showed up in a planting of about 30 normal (potato leaf) Casey's Pure Yellow seedlings, assuming (apparently correctly) that they were chance F1 hybrids.

One plant ripened very tasty red cherry tomatoes - in looking at what was in the proximity of Casey's the year the seed was saved, the only small fruited red was Ozark Cherry. I saved some seed, but probably won't put this on a high priority.

However...the second one is ripening oblate medium to large fruit that are yellow with distinct vertical pink/red striping. And guess what - Casey's was also living very near Pink Berkeley Tie Dye.

So I will save a good amount of seeds, as this one is pretty interesting - potato leaf, yellow, clear skin, large size, striped external coloring, and red flesh with chlorophyll retention. All sorts of possibilities (if this was indeed the cross) - no matter what, it's a pretty interesting outcome, and I will likely offer some seeds early next spring if anyone wants to give it a go! (the first fruit has premature ripening due to BER, but there are plenty of other green fruits on the plant, so should get an idea of the flavor eventually).

I will post a pic once a good looking fruit ripens.

Sounds great on the two surprizes.
Can't wait to see the pictures of both.
