DeWayne-no hijack, lets all work together on problems. I use 1 oz per gallon.

You need to gauge your application rate to the stage of growth your plants are in. With younger plants I start off with 1 tablespoon (1/2oz) per gallon and increase it as the plant grows. Add a little Black Strap Molasses 1 teaspoon per gallon as a sticker. Use 1 cup of hot water to dissolve the molasses and add to the gallon of water/Exel solution. Ami

I think I am having the same type of problem. It started with black tips on the leaf and progressed from there to where it is in the pictures. I have sprayed with greencure and B54red's bleach formula four times( twice each) in the last 5 days
because it has rained and washed the plants almost everyday. What is it? Have I burned the leaves with overspraying...spraying in the early morning or late evening. The leaves are the moderate problems...the really bad stuff has been removed and bagged. Thanks RWG |

The bleach will cause that. I would only use bleach as a last resort if the other products do not work. Bleach is something you do not want to use on a continuous basis, only as a last resort.

Scott - You may want to read my latest entry in a concurrent threat about black leaf tips on tomato plants. It is a cautionary tail of not using too much Exel g. I will definitely continue to use the product because it is effective, but, too much of a good thing is a bad thing.

I use actinovate, Exel and Molasses one day, then Neem Oil and molasses the next the next day. I didnt seem to have any problems and they worked wonderfully.

your posts and replys. This is the first year I have used actinovate and microbes. Unfortunately I planted out before I had received my actinovate and mycogrow. The plants went out with jobes organic fertilizer with microbes and neem and greencure spray for insect and foliar issues. Then we experienced 3 near freezes and 12 days of almost constant rain. I experienced the same black tip of the leaf problem that slowly spread to the rest of the leaf and then turned gray and papery. I suspected it was a foliar issue but did not know. I then discovered B54red's diluted bleach method of attacking the problem as nothing I was doing was having any real effect on the problem. The bleach burned the edges of the affected leaves. I was spraying greencure and then it rained , spraying and then it rained. The black tip started showing up on new growth. My actinovate arrived and the next morning the sun was gracious enough to shine and I immeadiately sprayed with actiinovate. That afternoon we had a monsoon and once again it got cold again for two days. That was when I asked for advice about needing to spray actinovate again and wondered whether neem and greencure would be compatible. I now know from going to the actinovate instructions page that actintovate is compatible with other fungicides and insecticides. So I sprayed with everything at the same time. Thanks goodness it has been dry since I sprayed. I was suffering from several problems at the same time. It was suggested that I had nitrogen poisoning from excess fertilizer application, burned leaves from bleach application, and then I found the little insects on the underside of the leaves. looked like aphids or mites of some kind. Iam now waiting with baited breath to see what happens next. I wish I had become aware of microbial advantages and actinovate and had the product prior to planting. Thanks to you all I certainly will for next time ...now I wait to see how well they work as drenches and foliar sprays without the rootball being innoculate. Thanks so much for all you help RWG R |
