Really? they only eat foliage on my plants. Never knew they'd eat tomatoes too!

My thief returns nightly, but, seems to really have a thing for big beef. It is going to get most of them, and it got the last of my black and brown boar. Still, it seems to be leaving alone brandywine cowlicks, which is quite relief.

Looks like Ill need a night vision camera to find my culprit because the traps, and many other measures documented are coming up empty.

Did you try to spray tomato fruits with hot pepper?

Never caught him, but the late summer heat wave was enough to stop production on all but sungold, so whatever it was, moved on to greener pastures for food. It was larger than a rat because the rat traps were routinely stripped of peanut butter, sprung and had no signs of catching anything. This lead me to think it was a smart and larger animal, making raccoon the most likely suspect. He/she was not ever interested in the catfood in the have a heart trap I set though, which is a little odd.

My thinking is that he or she being a completely street wis racoon may have been caught in a Hav-A-Heart trap, new what they where about and wasn't going to go there again.

I'm voting for a raccoon as the size looks like to me like their handwork. I use to have skunks up north that would go around tasting my tomatoes at night. How I know is I came home one night and the head lights caught two of them doing the deed. If I had had a gun I think I might have been able to have killed them right then and there, but back to reality I really couldn't have. I have had raccoon leave that mark as well.

I hope you are able to get this issue resolved soon.

That explains the individual bites taken out of each tomato. So which one tasted the best?

Maybe we should all club together and buy you some seeds so that you can grow your own next year!

Maybe a small bear trap would work?
