Might I suggest a cure for next year. Beneficial nematodes. At the right time of year the nematodes are used in the yard, watered in. They then seek out the larvae of soil living insects, burrow inside and lay eggs. The young nematodes then eat their way out, killing off the host.
We had an infestation in our lawn, one application and now we don't see any ground dwelling bugs in the garden. Not overly expensive, but certainly effective on a whole host of bugs.

Chickens LOVE crickets...get a net and send 'em over.
Great neighborly thing to do.
