Are you turning the pile? If it does start smelling bad then that means it has gone anaerobic. You want to keep oxygen in the pile to promote aerobic microorganisms.

Hello, need your inputs I have a black plastic trash can with holes drilled which I filled with dried leaves and coffee grounds. I just left it alone. Would it be wise to put some vegetable pulp in it since I juice a lot and did not want them to go to waste.

Any vegetable scraps is fine. Even better when they are ground up like your pulp.

Also, to compost, moisture is required. Not sopping, swimming wet, but squeezed-sponge damp. And I agree, veggie pulp is an ideal ingredient. And especially in a container, turning occasionally is necessary.

I put all of my leftovers in my compost pile except for most cooking oil.

Even bones.

I've found that the more green grass added, the more it has to be turned or you will get stink.
