Rebelski F1
I saw this on at least 2 people's grow list this spring.
For anyone who is growing it -- how is it doing? I am asking, because with regard to vigor, plant health and production, it is killing it in my field. Basically destroying the competition. But, I don't have a ripe fruit yet (it was planted during the 2nd wave, in June). Although it is in Johnny's "greenhouse" section, it is doing great in our "open-field" situation. |

I am particularly interested in comparisons to Big Beef.

I'm about to transplant now. Rebelski F1 lagged considerably behind 5 other hybrids including Big Beef F1, and also behind 6 popular OPs. I even threw Rebelski away, but the next day changed my mind and kept the best seedling just to see what happens. My germination temperatures and seedlings have been growing at 80-85 F, not by my choice, which may explain the disappointing performance.

I really liked it in my field. There are better tasting tomatoes, but it was a great combination of production, resistance, shelf-life and pretty good flavor.

It'll produce plenty of unblemished orbs that taste great and keep well off the vine, I don't remember any splitting. Overall, a definite recommend. Pull the trigger, you won't regret it. |
