The haul is looking amazing Gerardo. Keep up the good work in this nasty heat we are having.

Boxes are filling up quite nicely.

Some RGGS tenants have been moved to a temporary shelter (3-5 gal nursery container) for their fruits to ripen (Big Cheef, Harvard Sq, Rebel Yell, Darocense, GJ Benton, Dora, 1 Cowlick's).

Others were at the end of their cycle. Sudduth's, BHN-871, Sakh Pudov...

Some RGGS tenants were given complimentary meals, haircuts and more room to stretch so they have a strong 2nd Act performance: SOTW, Daniel Burson (at least 5 more plants coming), Vorlon, Bwine f Croatia, ISPL, OR117, Orange Jazz, Fresa, Cowlick's, Crnkovic Y.

I can't believe I haven't been invited down for a BLT and a good cane sugar Coke! Humph!

Apologies, apologies.

Not a bad selection, I enjoyed sampling them myself.

Yesterday's Turkey Pasta dish with nothing but Larisa rocked!
Where did I miss this pictuer I try to look at every post.

Default Plants churning along

Replacements have started setting fruit.

Ramillete/De Colgar varieties going strong, can't wait to sew my first ristra de tomates (hanging weave).

My ten or so Gribovsky are great also, setting lots of fruit..

Up next to move into new digs is Daniels (x2), ISPL (x4), Crnkovic Y (x3), Mikhalych (x6), Arad's Pink H, Detsikas, PBTD, Peacevine, Andreie Surprise, Volovsko Ukho, Sheryl's Portuguese H, Tolstushka, Byzshkaya Roza, Daniel Burson (x3), Cosm Volkov (x3), Momotaro.

Here's the latest haul. Populated by many, including Lucky Cross, Faworyt, Marbonne, Rebelski, Big Cheef, Rosella Purple, Tarasenko-6, Anna Maria's H, GJ-Benton, Chapman, Solar Flare, Everett's R Oxh, Zarca, Andizhaaskie, Indigo Cherry Drops, Zamorano, Competition Terhune RL, Larisa, et al.

IMPRESSIONS

Big Cheef, wow on flavor. I was ready to give up on this plant due to EB susceptibility, now I'm willing to hold its hand all the way.

I like Lucky Cross' subtle tones.

Faworyt is a nice pink. Good productivity. Bigger than Odoriko.

Indigo Cherry is productive and pretty. Flavor is acceptable.

I passed judgment on Marbonne too early, after surviving a fungal bout the plants have caught a 2nd wind and are producing very well. Rebelski, on the other hand, is one of those magnesium sensitive plants, where any aberration shows color fast. Marbonne's fruits are pleasing to the eye.

Those are all long gone. My not so temporary canine houseguest loves to clean up, and is officially a tomato eating machine.

She seems to like the sweet ones.

On-deck circle is solid.

REPLACEMENTS.jpg

Maglia stays as long as she wants.

MAGLIA ROSA RELOADED 7.7.jpg

Need a machete to get in there. Cheste, Chef's Choice Orange, Momotaro, OR117 and OJazz says the census.

Two shots of a few Gribovskiy that are loading up like Sungold, and my kneeling rug.

Ajis and Jalapen~os. Heat has been rough on them, they appear to like wet feet at all times, bottom tray is key.

Sure looks like your garden is a great success. Your variety evaluations have be very informative. I always look forward to your updates.

In Tijuana, do you have 2 plantings per year, much like S Florida and S Texas? What are you doing with those bountiful harvests?

Thanks Nancy. I'm trying to do year-round plantings by switching varieties as the seasons progress. Slowly but surely I'm finding out which varieties like it here, and then I try to tease out their optimal months.

For the heat I'm using a canopy, increased frequency of irrigation, a potting mix that retains more water for non-tube containers, and heavier mulch.

For the cold months I'll be using the same canopy and going with cold tolerant varieties from the Soviet days. And will likely convert some of the tubes into a hydroponic setup.

Every year I keep stretching my season, fingers crossed I won't have to shutdown in January like in years past.

I sell a lot of them, give away a ton, and reduce quite a few into ice cube shaped bombs of tomato flavor that are a hit with everyone.

A sofrito and a jam are in the development pipeline, and I'm finally doing the procurement for dehydration.

My initial recipe will be: Two buck chuck + olive oil + my own dried basil and oregano + smoked salt/regular salt as a marinade for hearts sliced down the middle.

It's been a great year thus far, no major setbacks.

I am having almost a Tijuana like summer, since it finally began. Much more sun and heat than usual, with almost no rain from the onset. Everything not irrigated is turning brown, but the tomatoes are loving it. I have been expecting a lot of blossom drop, but that hasn't really happened. This year I finally covered some of the container to stave off those rain borne foliage diseases, but that was useless. The plants are looking their best ever, which is nice.

Great to hear things are favorable up there. Sounds very much like our conditions, especially the brown part.
