Looking for recommendations
I am interested in opinions of what is the largest most prolific bi-color you have grown? I am also looking for large slicers in any color. I am also interested in a tomato that takes forever to ripen... Longest days to maturity? I live in the south where the season is fast and furious and then its done. I am trying to do my best by getting a jump on the season (using my hoop house high tunnel) and also a tomato that would be as late as I can get to ripen. I know what some of you will say about trying to stagger the seeds and plants but I am very limited on time and will not have the luxury of staggered plantings or seed.
I am not interested in long keepers per say as most are not very flavorful, but a variety that is tasty but ripens last. |

I have a bicolor collected from a farmer's market in Nashville that is my most prolific. It's a big yielder, not especially late though. Flavor is good, but not as good as Orange Russian 117.
Many of the brandywines are late to produce, but I think a lot of them also set fruit poorly in hot weather, which may be a problem for you. Bicolor also does not seem to have a strict definition. A lot of yellow tomatoes will blush red when they are very ripe, like Dwarf Sweet Sue, another of my favorites. |

While looking through seed varieties the other day, I found one called Lover's Lunch. I haven't grown it yet, but it looks good http://shop.wildboarfarms.com/LOVERS-LUNCH-LOVERS.htm

Agree orange Russian 117 is a good late bicolour. Hillybilly is another or pineapple or German stripe. For something different, copper river or captain lucky as bicolour green and pink.

I have not grown many bicolor but dwarf Lucky Swirl was extremely prolific in producing large tasty beefsteaks.

If you're looking to go late, why not try a split season?

Boy, I feel lucky! Got orange Russian from Cole and Copper River from Gerardo and loved the German striped I had this year.

My most reliable and prolific large bi-colors are Marizol Gold and Gold Medal.
