Brutus is variety you can rely on. It grows and bears fruits during warm or colder summer. Hot summer gives more sun, so they are sweeter. I haven't noticed bigger fruits during colder summer.

Marsha, your tomatoes are amazing! Thank you for sharing so much of your garden. I just bought several Earth Boxes on Black Friday and have never used them before. I am wondering how you cage your tomatoes successfully? From the pics it appears you use some standard cages but maybe also some free form cages and stakes? Do they just anchor into the earth box?

When I see this thread in 'New posts' I always open it immediately. So nice to see your tomatoes in winter. Thanks for taking the time to show them to us.

Marsha, what fertilizer are you currently using for your EBs, anything new you are trying this year? And what about calcium nitrate, did you switch brands?
I am getting ready to sow my seeds now and will use 3 of my 4 precious EBs for tomatoes. Thank you as usual for sharing your EB know-how! |

I use Tomato Tone as my fert strip, and also supplement with a teaspoon of soluble Calcium nitrate and 1/3 teaspoon of epsom salts down the Earthbox tube once per week. The Epsom salts is to keep the plants from getting a magnesium deficiency from unbalanced addition of the calcium. |

Marsha, I haven't kept track, are Tundra and Midnight Sun RL's or the more elusive PL hearts? The photos look delicious! Amazing how fast they are coming along, hope you and Karen keep getting nice results on them.

Dee, one of Karen's trademarks is breeding for potato leaves on things that don't usually have potato leaves. All of her hearts of the True North series are indeed potato leaf.

Marsha, you are killing me with all this beautiful GWR tomatoes. I have to grow one this yearner, for sure.
I already looked at Captain Lucky, Everett's Rusty Oxheart, Aunt Ruby's German Green. And now you are posting Coeur de Surpriz. How a girl to choose just one green when ripe tomato.
