Default Pepper Seeds

I found some Peppadew's at my local Whole Food Store. There are a few seeds inside some of the pepper. Do you think there is even a remote possibility they will germinate?

I would give it a try.
I know people that would kill for those seeds. Don't know why. Don't they come from Africa.

If I had to take a guess, I would say no they won't germinate. Reason being, they are given a water bath to kill bacteria and I would think it would make the see non viable.

I'm going to give them a try. I'll report back on my success or lack thereof.

Good luck.

If said water bath has a bacteriocidal or bacteriostatic agent in it, it does not seem to me that said water would reach the seeds, so hopefully it will work for you.

What is so special about this pepper, if I may ask.

Are we talking the rare and mysterious PeppaDew peppers, by chance?

Craig, that's the one. I have twenty seeds drying now. I'm not holding my breath but maybe I'll get lucky.

Ive been trying to find a seed source for them myself - the question, though...is it a variety of pepper that is unique/difficult to find, or a process of commonly known peppers - processed in such a way to give it the particular flavor? Give it a shot and let us know how they do!

I think the Peppadew thing is a hoax.
I think it is the process that does the trick with them.
Its a closely guarded secret and patented process.

All I can taste in the peppers is what is in the recipe that they use to make them.

Are these things actually very good? I googled them and the pictures make them look pretty good.

Worth... I think it's a little of both. The brine IS very sweet. The peppers are about the size of a cherry pepper but have much thicker walls than cherry peppers making them somewhat meaty. I just received a few seeds from S Africa so maybe I'll have better luck germinating these.
