Japanese Oxheart - Have you grown it?

When I purchased my Momotoro seeds this year, I also bought Japanese Oxheart to fill out my minimum order. Has anyone else grown this? What was your experience?

So far I have several branches with huge clusters of medium sized oxheart shaped tomotoes. One branch has about 10 all clustered together. Seems quite vigorous and is taking over the homemade earthbox it shares with Siberian tomato.

Tim, Several years ago (2003) I grew the Japanese Oxheart and took it to the CHOPTAG Taste Fest. It won as the heaviest tomato. I think there is a picture of it on the CHOPTAG site here at Tomatoville.

Thanks Gary, I am not sure how "heavy" these first fruits are, but there sure are a lot of them.

Yipe! Looks great! Mine didn't germinate, so it has to wait for next year. They look so beautiful in pics....

I have my neighbour growing it for me this year. Today, I went to check on it and it's looking very interesting. The plant has not grown very tall (actually it looks like a dwarf) but is producing heart shaped tomatoes. I'm going to take some pictures in a little while to see if anyone can tell me what is going on with it. It was always a little bit more rugose even when it was a seedling. For a while, I thought I'd gotten the wrong thing but it's a heart shaped tomato. I guess only time will tell...

I was wrong. Clerical error. I did have one amongst my restarts and extras. Made room and planted it and a Soldacki yesterday. Only about 16". Funny, the Green Giant I restarted the same time is 4' right now w/ good fruit set.
