I know what you mean. This will be my first time getting to try this one. It definitely looks to be early and productive. If the flavor turns out to be to my liking, I will be a very happy camper.

I really like the "earliness" of it too -
Flower trusses all over it ?
Matos the size of half dollars ?
You're right - if the flavor is as good
as its growth habit ?
This variety is a sure-fire winner ~

I do have to report that
alot of my late maturing
varieties have open flowers
as well -
therefore, all
bets are off as far as DTM's
are concerned.
The pro's were right -
DTM's mean nothing ~

Just checked Silvery Fir Tree this evening. It had fallen over due to its heavy load of 2" tomatoes. I had to stake it and tie it up. It's so small that even in a cage, it has room to topple over. I had wondered with it being such a small little plant with such large tomatoes, (for its size).

Holly: I am jealous. I grew SFT once and it got hundreds of hundreds of blossoms, but only 2 tomatoes. It was a beautiful sight in full bloom.

Really? I thought this one had a pretty good reputation for being productive, early and tasty. Was it a bad year for tomatoes? Last year, everything I had died.

I think SFT doesn't do well once it gets really hot, but I would think our climate here would be hotter than what you would have, unless it was a weird weather year or something.

My SFT is loaded up with fruit. Now that it's gotten really hot, it may not set any more, but I'd say it's got around a dozen right now, all getting up pretty big in size. Anyone know it it's determinate or indeterminate?

I recall, it was cool and wet. Also, that year a hurricane came up the coast and sent us lots of wind & rain here. I had it growing in a 5 gallon bucket, which I wheeled into shed for the storm.

Yup,

This is my first year with SFT and it is loaded with budz and fruit.
I would definitely give it another try (that is if taste is as advertised)

All of my small to medium fruited plants are now setting fruit.

About half of the large beefsteaks have one or two fruits set.

Brandywine Sudduth, Stump of the World, Polish C, Germaid Red, and a few others are still droppin blossoms left and right.

I've been shakin plants, thumpin trusses, and even using a cotton swab to coax the pollen along.
All of these plants are 3 ft. tall or higher so immaturity can not be the cause.

Temps have been good,
Humidity was a problem about 2 weeks ago
but weather has been perfect lately.

I guess I'll just be patient and keep up the shakin and thumpin.

I will say that Opalka, and Jaunne Flamme' are CRANKIN em out!! Anf the JF is AWESOME!!!
