Can you explain how you created the homemade strawberry tower (where how many drain holes - how big are the plant holes, etc) - I have a bakery here that saves me their 4 gal whole eggs pails. Would 4 gal pails work? They look just like the ones you are using.

John-Yes these are a combo of 4 and 5 gallon buckets. What I do is drill 2 inch cut outs through one side of the bucket. Idealy for me, is 4 or even better 3 strawberry plants to a 4 gallon bucket. I make my soils and so I like my starwberries to be in a soil that drains well. I drill two 1/2 inch holes at the bottom of the bucket one for fast drainage and in the other hole I insert a wick to help drain the excess water from the PWT. You can use mop strands, nylon rope etc for wicks. They work great. And finally I like to use a liquid fert of some sort for my strawberries, like MG 24-8-16 at half strength weekly or Foilage Pro 9-3-6.

not meaning to sound dumb, but what is a PWT?

Perched Water Table, its usually found at the bottom of a container in most potting mixes. The wick basically eliminates all or most of that perched water by tricking the water into thinking the conatiner is deeper than it really is. Thus draining the potting soil completely.
