Giant Belgium Potato Leaf???

I went to a local hardware store which has been in business since the early 1900's; not the same owner of course. They had a few tomato plants for sell in front of the store. Only about 3 varieties. I spotted about 3 dozen potato leaf plants about 24-30" high and looked at the tag. They all were labeled Giant Belgium.

I went inside to buy the item I had went. The couple that owns it who are also its only 2 employee where there. She helped me find my item and I commented about how I had never seen a potato leaf version of GB and that any I had ever grown were RL(I did this in a nice manner). Anyway she informed me that they grew heirloom tomatoes and the plants were Giant Belgiums. I said Ok and left.

Now am thinking should I go back and buy one and grow it out to see what if produces.

Is there a PL version of Giant Belgium?

Is there a PL version of Giant Belgium?

Giant BHelgium was first offered by Gleckler's I think even before 1980, Adam could tell me when hius grandfather or father first offered it. It was first listed in the SSE YEarbooks back in about 1984 and I've never seen anyone anywhere refer to a PL version.

That's not to say that like with many varieties PL versions pop up but for many years now I do not necessarily equate a PL version of a vareity with the original RL version of the same variety.

I agree that there's no sense arguing with the person who told you they were Giant Belgiums. If you want to go back and plant out an almost three foot tall can't be sure what it is, then why not if you have the room. But I don't think there's ANY way you're going to be able to ID it since there are hundreds upon hundreds of large pink fruited PL's.
