Default So my Black Krim is not a Black Krim

I ran out to check on the swamp that is my back yard today and low and behold I had two ripe cherry sized tomatoes on what I thought was a Black Krim. Ummm yeah not a black krim. lol

I was then thinking maybe my friend i got the seeds from had mistakenly labeled a black cherry as a Krim. BUT...the fruit ripened to a bright red with slightly lighter veining. I should have take a picture before I gobbled the tomato up. lol

I have another that is blushing so I will take a picture of it tomorrow. Whatever it was....it tasted GOOOOOOOD!

At least it tasted good I mistakenly planted large red cherry instead of crinkovic yugolslavian cuse I thought the tag LRC looked like CRN (don't ask why) and the LRC is very mealy and pretty much a spitter so far maybe others will be better.

I have a variant plant from Black Krim that is a cherry size tomato. It is exceptionally good flavored. This seems to be a trait of some other bee made crosses of Black Krim that I have grown over the years.

My Brandywine isn't a Brandywine this year. I thought the fuits looked small but I figured they were still growing. I went out yesterday and one had started turning....red. It's a perfectly round, red tomato. Bummer. Hopefully it will taste good. I got the seeds from Seeds of Change and this is the 4th year I've grown from that pack. I'm thinking I caught a stray seed.

It happens. Maybe you'll be as lucky as I was with my BTD Pink seed. One turned out to be a med. pink regular shaped tomato on a plant that looked identical to the BTD. It is a delicious tomato and the most productive plant out of well over 100 I planted this year. It is also the best tomato at setting fruit in the heat of any I have ever had in over 30 years of gardening. Right now I have picked 64 tomatoes off of it from 4 oz. to 10 oz. and it is still wrapped up in tomatoes and healthy. I am calling it Bill's Berkley Pink and I am saving a lot of seed from it in hopes it will grow true next year.

My Andrew Raharts Jumbo Red turned out to be a medium size plant with round red tomatoes averaging around 5 to 6 oz. with the largest being 8 oz. The plant has been very productive and the tomatoes are one of the best tasting of the year. It is the only plant from my earliest March planting of 37 plants that is still alive and producing. I have saved the seed to replant next year and am calling it Andrew Rahart's Small Red.

From my Gary O' Sena seed I got one regular leaf plant that was the most vigorous growing plant of the season. It made a medium to large slightly fluted pink beefsteak that was great. It also produced 28 fruits so I saved the seed and will try it next year. I'm calling it Gary's Pink Beefsteak.

I had one lone tomato seed in a batch of bell pepper seed that grew into a large green tomatoe of moderate production and good taste. It was the only green to live long enough to produce tomatoes this year for me. I'm calling it Pepper Seed Green and yeah I've saved the seed also.
Usually when I have an odd seed or a missed type it turns out to be a sickly red cherry that doesn't taste good or produce good. This has been a year of very happy surprises. I'm hoping some others will help me in growing out some of these and see if the seed run true to what they were this year.
