Default Farmers monster

I got a catalog from :farmer seed and nursery: and thought I'd ask if any one knows anything about this one.It says they average 2 lbs. and the DTM is 100-110 days

While I have seen some 2# tomatoes, I cannot imagine a plant that averages that. I do not know of that variety, but if it can average half of that claim, you've found a winner (if it tastes good also).

I went to that seed site and they call it just Monster, not Farmer's Monster, and show no picture. So I went to Google and Googled Monster tomato and there are lots of links for that if you want to take a look. And I didn't answer you at GW for the same question when I was just there b'c all the software problems and clicking between ever move at the site is well, I hope they get their act together soon. Last night the site came up with no bar at the right so you couldn't go anywhere.

I went to the seed company site and found a pic and Farmer's Monster Tomato
here is that link

http://www.farmerseed.com/detail.asp?pid=6764&nav=veg

The description is a bit overzealous me thinks, "Tomatoes so big and so heavy, you'll want to keep kids and small animals from playing around them." LOL

I went back and checked and it clearly said no photo but with the same blurb you referred to. But I looked and what I'd located were plants and what you located were seeds.

So there you go, yes, a picture when you're buying seeds and no picture if buying plants.

And the variety name is Monster, not Farmer's Monster although it's listed at the Farmer Seed Co.

There it says just Monster , as plants, and the same blurb is to the right but with no picture.

Gotta love it.

Carolyn,
Go to the web site click on "vegetables" first-then choose tomatoes. You get a picture because this is the location on the site for seeds not plants.

Wow. Seems like they are employing a reverse-psychology approach.

Did anyone see how many seeds they offer in a packet??? I spent about 15 minutes bouncing around and never did lock in on how many seeds are in a tomato seed packet. Given the comments in the link above, I don't think I want to risk any of my money.

Those are the worst Dave's Garden reviews I've ever seen. Good thing I didn't order the Magic Beans to go with the Farmer's Monster

It would be fun to try the 'monster' and 'magic bean'.It might be safe to order seeds but like ,ContainerTed ,said they don't mention seed count.
