Walmart $.20 seed packages

Walmart has the 20 cent seeds there now , They sell out so fast. Early for them. I tried them the last 2 years Nice.

Saw it yesterday. The only tomato seeds they had at the store near me was Beefsteak and Delicious.

What brand are they my local Wally world I have only seen Ferry morse seed and it was $1 a pack.

I'm kind of surprised they're doing it this early in the season. Seed sales must be past their peak in your area. Around here, they don't do seed specials until around Sept. (Too late for current year...just clearing the racks before they return leftovers to the vendor.)

$.20 seeds at Walmart are "American Seed" by Plantation Products in Norton, MA.
I bought a pack of Marketmore cucumber seeds and a pack of radishes. Seed sales have not really started in my area. I stopped at a local garden center last week and he told me he wouldn't have any seeds in his store for at least a couple of weeks. Lowes has just put their seed out and I have yet to see a pack of seeds at my local Home Depot.

Thanks maybe the mart will have that brand this year too, So far Wal-mart is the first in this area to have seeds. I actually had to have a manager at lowes come and unlock the outside part of the garden center just to buy a bag of potting soil.

In the past some of the best chain store seed I have bought was Dollar General seed LOL. I needed bean seed for a second planting and they were the only ones with any so bought it and really it did better than the same variety from a co-op type store and was cheaper.

I saw a display of Burpee seeds at an Oddlot or Joblot store near me and they had Burpee Heirloom seeds. There were about 6 or 8 tomato varieties (Cherokee Purple, Marglobe, Brandywine, Yellow Pear and a couple more I don't remember. The price was $1.03 per package.

I've bought those "five for a buck" seed packets at Walmart, Dollar General, and other discount outlets for years. I buy them simply because they usually have some interesting seeds. I've always found them to be high quality with better germination rates than most heirloom seeds I buy from reputable vendors. I love the fact that they are pretty generic. You never really know what your going to get, but it is usually good. How about some cucumber seed labeled as "cucumber seed". How about some tomato seed labeled as "Beefsteak Tomato" seed or "Cherry Tomato" seed. I love stuff that simply says what it is without all the hype. For some reason I love the fact that a few companies are still around that can make a profit and stay in business selling something at five for a buck.

I have bought Cuke seeds from them over the years, some flowers and herbs and lettuce only. Very few seeds in each pack. I bet that they are gone now, only takes less than 1 week to sell out. I have never seen them this early. Herbs from seeds are so slow to grow up north here , but i tried again this year again. Cilantro, Dill, a few different Basil's,Parsley. My favorite herb is French Taragon, i cannot find any seeds ever, Home Depot had some new companies herbs last year, finally, Bonnies were the only plants there for years.

French Tarragon does not grow from seeds only from cuttings. The only tarragon from seeds that I know of is the russian kind. Very grassy tasting. Not good like the French tarrragon. They are perennial here for me in zone 5 and in the spring I take cuttings on the new growth and root them in pots for new plants so purchasing one plant could eventually provide you with lots of them

I've used their seeds over the years, annuals, some cukes, radishes and lettuces with no issues of growing or germinating.

Actually, planning on a little experiment this year $2.00 garden, just for fun, in the small 4x4 raised bed, well prepared, just to see how much fresh garden goodness one can grow over the season.

Have been waiting for those seeds for weeks now, only $1.00 packets so far, so your stores ahead of ours. Did have any types of peppers this year?

Yes Hungarian yellow wax, and a few others. I grew 2 packs of there hot seeds last year, very nice, i got them mixed up with other plants early. So Me and my neighbor grew them all, not to hot.

Happened to be in a different Walmart today so I took a look for seeds. They had none out yet, so I guess it is still hit or miss whether the stores will have seeds out.

Hmmm...Last year I bought a few of the "American Seeds" for 10 cents and they were fine! Grew out some of my best butternuts in 20 years from these cheap seeds. I even saved them and will never have to buy them again! Now thats being cheap but Ill never have to rely on anyone for seeds again. The sample pea seed also a whopping 10 cents were fine as well.Agway,kmart,walmart, home d and lowes all had seed out in the Torrington area.
