My experience with Organic MG this year

This year I started all of my seed in Jiffy pellets and then transplanted to various containers filled with Organic Miracle Grow. The mix said it contained composted wood or bark and poultry fertilizer? I don't have the bags anymore so I'm going from memory. I kept getting yellowing leaves and spots on my plants and thought I was overwatering. After a while I noticed what appeared to me to be fertilizer burn on the end of my leaves when I would water. (crispy leaf tips) There seemed to be some large uncomposted wood in the mix so I wonder if maybe the poultry product was also not properly aged and that is why I was getting these results. Anyone else have similar experiences with Organic MG?

Not to the extent that you have, but I have used it (brown bag) one time, to up-pot the spare transplants...

I have noticed too many chunks of wood indeed. Mostly wood for that matter. Very coarse texture. Transplants were not growing well, thin, leggy, weak plants, compare to the mixture that I've used on my main seedlings.

I really doubt that there can be any fertilizer burn from MG Organic Potting mix, as it is something under 1% of each of NPK components... Nevertheless, I've not used it in over 3 years, and not planning on either.

In my low opinion Miracle grow could botch a glass of water.

Ihave started seed in regular mg mix and had great success. Nothing but trouble with the organic version. Another problem seems to be bugs hatching out from the organic version...reported by friends who used it as well.

I tried MG Organic Potting Soil on a Fino Verde Basil plant last year and it did extremely well. That's about my only experience with MG Organic anything. I must have got a bag that they didn't botch up.
I think the most horrible of all Scotts-Miracle Grow potting soil products is Hyponex. Awful stuff, looks like its made from sewer sludge and sand.
