My peppers seeded on Feb 2 are up this morning, well one was up last night. Moved them to the light. They looked happy, I know I am! Tomatoes I will wait another week to start.

Congrats! It's an exciting time, just being able to begin, isn't it?

I planted 8 determinate tomatoes and one sweet pepper on Feb. 1st- 100% of the seeds of six of the tomato varieties came up on the 4th and 5th; still nothing on the other two.

The pepper came up last night.

Hope you have great germination with all your tomatoes!

fast! it is exciting to see the new shoots. i just seeded onions on sunday and they were coming up on wednesday.

Yea. 12 for 12 germinated in a "Jiffy" miniature Hot House with the plastic clear dome lid and peat pellets.

Blk Vegan~ Nice to meetcha! I'll probably seed the tomatoes wed, 15th. It's real Feb weather weather we're having this week, ain't it? After near-spring days most of the winter, I had to wear a big coat today, cold and breezy.

My peppers have sprouted and I underestimated my chance of success. I planted 4 seeds per cell and now have some cells with all four seedlings. Can I separate the plants without harming them (like tomatoes) or do I need to cull the plants by cutting off the extras in each cell? Thanks for any help here.

Troad~ there shouldn't be any problem separating your peppers, maybe wait til they have their second leaves.

I routinely separate peppers that sprouted in the same container - sometimes I have up to 12 seedlings in one, and it still works very well, as long as you have them in a good soiless mix. 1-2 sets of true leaves stage is the best, but it could be done before or after.

If I had four seedlings in one little cell, I'd prolly do an initial separation into two groups of 2 first. Waiting until they get one or two sets of leaves is a little late, AFAIC. But just two in the cell, yeah, I'd leave them alone for awhile.

Thanks for all the answers. I will give separating them a try. They are started in Fox Farms Light Warrior mix so hopefully i can keep damage to a minimum.

Mine are getting the 2nd leaves. One of the sweets on the left looks bent but it's just where the seedcoat didn't pop off til this morning, always gives them a twisted look for a while. I'm sure it'll recover.

I plant up to 30 in a cell that is less than 2 inches by 2 inches - they separate just fine.
