After a handful of Ambrosia Red cherries, which I don't really count, my tomato garden produced its first big tomato, a 9 ounce Fish Lake Oxheart. It will sit on the windowsill for a day or so, then down the hatch to begin another year.

As I have stated several times, "I never ate a heart I didn't like." For a first of the year and this being a drought year, Fish Lake was sweet and juicy with very few seeds. There was a distinct flavor of home grown tomato after several months of dull store bought red cardboard tomatoes. On a scale of ten we gave it an eight and 1/2. Recommended.

It's beautiful, which is good, because it's on my grow list, as is ambrosia. What size cherry is ambrosia?

For me, Ambrosia Red has been in the medium size for cherries range, about 1/2 inch diameter. I can compare it to Sungold size and smaller than Black Cherry and larger than Sweet Million.
