These are pictures of seedlings/plants Clara was kind enough to send me in the mail as I was unable to do my normal seedling grow outs due to me moving and renovating the new house. The kicker was it took the post 5 days to deliver the box and I was surprised any of them made it. Here are the ones that did make it.
The first 3 pictures were taken 18 June. The two in the Smart Pots are Maristu (PL) and Pomodoro d'Cantenna. The third photo showing the rest in Cow Pots. As you can see they are now thriving and enjoy their new home. Ami The next set of pictures were taken today. 1. Cyril's Choice Dwarf. 2. Eh Lim 3. Lehrer Tomato 4. Kardinal 5. Zolotoya Pulya 6 Maristu (Mariana's Peace x Stupice ) by Reinhard Kraft 7. Pomodoro d' Cantenna 8. All together on my Balcony.

They all look so healthy!
That was so very nice of Clare to help you out. Hope the renovations have gone well. Remy

They look great. Clara definitely sent you healthy plants to look that good after 5 days in transit.
Enjoy them. Zana |

It's nice to have friends with extra tomato plants!
Tell us about Maristu ... is it a hybrid? What kind of fruits? How early? The plants look really nice. You must have been so glad to get them. Sherry |

Good to see that at least half of my babies "survived" the 5 days trip (next time we should meet on half distance between our houses...). I had the first ripe toms last week - 2 big bowls of colorful salad and - my son's special wish - a yellow tomato sauce. More salad and a (red) sauce are going to follow tomorrow. At the moment I'm very pleased with the crop, but we have a delay of about 4 weeks compared to former years. If in compensation the season should last 4 weeks longer, then it's okay. Enjoy your toms, Ami! clara

Some infos on Cyril's Choice (I've got my seeds from a German friend):
"50-60 days. Det. Dwarf, rugose, regular leafed plants are early and productive for such small vines. Good for container gardening. Dark red colored fruits. An English family heirloom, kept alive by D. Rankilor, who's brother Cyril grew it on his allotment before he died. Given to The Seed Ambassadors Project by the Heritage Seed Library, England." "The Cyril in question lived in Essex and grew his special tomato every year until he passed away in 1984. His sisters carried on the tradition, however, they thought that the tomato was lost in 1993 when their saved seed was not properly dried. A search in 1995 revealed that two seeds remained, tucked away at the bottom of their seed tin. The deep red fruits have a tangy flavour, perfect for cooking or salads. Seed Guardian Eluned Paramor has grown them under glass, outdoors and in pots with equal success." I'm very pleased with my Cyril's Choice - it's pumping out fruits without end. clara |
