The good news is that "bad" bunch of SunGold F-1 seeds finally sprouted, then took off like there was no tomorrow. Even with almost a month delay one of them is already in the top 10 largest plants (out of a couple hundred).

Dewayne, perfect description, and I completely agree. Still, when they're at their best, nothing beats the Sungolds. The problem is at their worst, the can almost be like a 15' tall weed that drops little nuggets of mushy gold everywhere and attracts birds like nothing else. Also, they'll crack under water load/differential.

Uh oh. Theres a lot of birds in my apartment complex that may compete with me for my future sungold tomatoes. I should add an owl or eagle statue to my shopping list.

I have a garden Owl. The bluebirds nest right above it!

Doh! Maybe I'll send my husband out to belch at the birds to assert his dominance.

Picking fruit off a Sungold plant at Suze's place.

I'm 6'9" (203cm), plus she'd already whacked 2' off the plant at this point.
