Well, I'm glad to hear he's been around. I post in fits and bursts so I understand taking a break here and there. I would love to see an update of his season and what he learned about GH growing.

Yeh, I can't imagine life without Earl. Never had his pulled pork, but I've licked the screen.

His Faux has set two fruits already. It's early days and that's one more than Brandywine Sudduth.

Okay, so here's what I reckon, being the perceptive one that I am.

I think Earl got cheesed off when the some of the doyens said Earl's Faux was Brandywine Sudduth. Which it may be. Who knows?

There was a very good grower with a plant business, I think, who grew lots of them side by side and noted some differences.

All I know is the fruit was Mrs Grub's fave last year.

Well, it was my favorite too, despite what it may be. I noted differences and I did grow them in the same year, though with limited samples. Earl's Faux was very productive and did follow through the next year with same results. But heck, I'm certainly not one to say what-is-what.
The pulled pork is a thing of legend and I drool at the thought of it. Cheesed off or not, he has a responsibility here, LOL. He can't leave us hanging! He knows he has friends here at any rate, that much is obvious. I have Earl's "hole" recipe saved and printed out on a recipe card, LOL. No pressure, but Earl, get your butt back with the program and tell us what you grew and how they did.

Still, if after all our efforts Earl's a no show then I going to plant my own old timber stump and can some Picardy and kill a pig.

Life's too short to not have Earl. Maybe there's a market for Earl dolls?

Recently while basking in sunshine and tropical splendor in Playa del Carmen , Mexico. I had the opportunity to have a chat with my brother in laws "life partner".
Basically that's what the kids call "shackin up" these days.

Anyhow, she's a lovely girl and quit inexplicably the conversation turned to tomatoes...as it always seems to

She told me a tale about her boss and his family growing a tomato that is absolutely fabulous. Furthermore they do not save seeds for fear of crossing or contamination and actually travel back to their hometown in Italy every year to obtain seeds.

To say the least I was very interested and was finally told to "leave the poor girl alone about the beeping tomatoes" by mean Ole Mrs. Bully

The other day I received an envelope containing 30 seeds that the young lady was able to procure.

The following information was listed:
Name: Curcio
Origin: Belmont, Calabria
Color: Red w/ green top
shape: Oblong (heirloom like)
size: 2 lbs
DTM: August/ mid Sept

I'd like to send you half and if you have good germination you can give a few plants to your CHOPTAG buddies and I'll do the same with my DATE pals and we'll see how they do.

The hardest part of riding the waves with a 4 and 6 year old on your back is getting em up there!

I don't dare ask for 3 seeds from either of you b/c you'll each have only 15 seeds. but if it turns out to be a good one, lets make sure it gts listed in the SSE Yearbook and if I have seeds at that point from someone who has grown it I can send them to my two fave places for trial, and that's TGS and Sandhill.

Heh heh heh, Bully dangled the bait like a true fisherman Glad to hear from ya Earl and no, we have nothing better to talk about, LOL. I guess I should speak for myself. Anyway, when you get a chance, do tell what your experiences have been with your GH; like what you would do different or what worked well for you. I would really like to get one once we get moved.

Ok, Bully, with [her] decription you twisted my arm. But it worries me that she didn't tout the taste a bit in her written descriptive note. But I reckon [IT] has to taste pretty darn good for her to travel half way around the world every year to get seeds!

It would help if you and Duker Dawg showed up at the CHOPTAG Spring Plant Share to help me twist arms giving away the plants. :-) Look for an email. I've got a couple or so new ones I grew this year that you need to try if you haven't already grown them.

Carolyn, of course if it's super you get seeds.

GG, as to the GH, all I can say right now is that I wish it was bigger. :-)

Jennifer, we've discussed this in the Moderator's Forum. Barb has been taking care of her aged and ill mother and for some she has not returned e-mails and she has e-mailed a few folks the way I understand it.

So she's OK herself, but very preoccupied these days.
