Pictures of Rick's 2014 garden
Here are a few shots of my current tomatoes. These are set up in a rain gutter grow system and string trellised. I love this sight lots of great people with tons of great information.

Rick,
Your plants look excellent! What is the purpose of the copper tubing in the third photo? Some sort of irrigation I assume. Raybo |

Hello Raybo,
That's just the twine I trellis the tomatoes with it is orange/copper in color. Thanks for the compliment, I have read many of your threads and built 4 of your earthtainers which work super by the way. I have melons in them right now. Rick Last edited by ricman; May 26, 2014 at 10:24 PM. |

Your plants look incredible, Rick- such a creative setup, too. I see you've even got some ripe tomatoes already. Thanks for sharing your photos.

Hello Kath,
Thank you for the props. Yes I have been harvesting some of the Early Girl tomatoes. I will post more pictures as the rest of the garden begins to produce. Rick |

I have to give Larry Hall (saw them on YouTube) the credit for the Wal-Mart grow bags, at only .50 cents a piece its hard to beat the price.

Wow, really nice! What is your pruning practice? Are those determinants? How did you get so much fruit set from such compact plants? Do you think the limited root expansion space in the bags keeps the plants small, but super productive?

Your plants looks great! I love reading about new and different growing techniques on this site. I've never heard of the rain gutter system, so I look forward to following your progress this season. Best of luck to you!

Thanks everyone for the compliments.
heirloomtomaguy...The bags are holding up great I fully expect them to last thru the season. Dewayne mater...on most of my plants I prune and sucker to between 2 and 4 stems these are indererminates.(I sucker because of space constrainants.) I have 12 Celibrity's that I will not sucker as they are semi-determinates. I think the weather, wind and bee's have been very coperative as far as the fruit set goes. As far as the plants being compact, well they are still realitively young. I expect the indeterminates will outgrow the trellis system. BucksCountyGirl...If you have time, look up Larry Hall and the rain gutter grow system on youtube. Lots of good information. Thanks everyone....Rick |
