Pictures of my 2014 garden
The first shot shows a Costoluto Genovese in the purple Rubbermaid container and 2 suspected Costoluto Genovese crosses that I'm going to prune to single (or maybe 2) stems.
Next shows 2 more of the suspected crosses in an EarthTainer. In the next EarthTainer I have 3 different types of cucumbers and Minnesota Midget Melon as an experiment. The 3rd EarthTainer should be self explanatory. Next is some Snap Peas and more Melons. The following bed is Lettuce, Kale, Carrots and Radishes (and dying Spinach - not sure what happened) In the Pepper bed I have mostly sweet bell types, but also some Jalepenos and Santa Fe Grandes. In the back I have 3 Tasmanian Chocolate dwarf plants. In the indeterminate Tomato bed I have Super Sweet 100, Big Beef x2, Cherokee Purple x2, Bloody Butcher, Costoluto Genovese and Wes. In the dwarf bed I have 3 Ivalde F4 plants, 3 off type Dwarf Golden Hearts, 2 Caitydid (f7?) plants, 1 Dwarf Golden Heart, 2 Sweet Sue, 2 Rosella Purple and 1 Iditarod Red. Finally - Onions. I thought the site turned attached images into thumbnails, but that doesn't appear to have happened here. It would have been easier to browse I suppose. Oh well! Very nice set up and good looking plants. I am a container/raised bed kind of guy too, once again very nice.

Riceloft,
Well done! What is the suspected Costoluto cross? PS - The way you did your pictures is perfect. |

Your plants look perfect, very nice job!
Question: could you tell me what the mix is in your EarthTainers? Thank you so much! Lorri D |

http://tomatoville.com/showpost.php?...&postcount=164 Heritage grew out a few "F2" plants over the winter in his greenhouse. So I'm growing the F3. We'll see if there's much variation. |

I use a slight variation of Raybo's recommendation. The last 2 years my plants have started off quite pale in the EarthTainers, so Ray recommended reducing the pine bark component. In the two with tomatoes, I mixed 50% of leftover mix from last year (3:2:1) along with 50% of a 3:1:1 new mix. Thats Sunshine #4, Pine Bark, Perlite. In the one for cukes, its 50% leftover mix and 50% 5:1:1 of new mix. |
