I have seen Bush Champions on people patios ...and they seem to be fine

I guess I still prefer to go OP as Bush Champion was a hybrid ...

In this Category of Hybrid ...I have tried Husky F1 Pink

and I really liked it actually ....but I think Husky F1 Cherry is a bit earlier than

Husky Red , Husky Gold ...etc.

Any tomato variety of dwarf tree-type habit gives your the troutest of the trout stem if you grow it in Nitrogen rich soil.

But the larger leaf and the thicker its stem you get, less fruit yield you will get from such a fatten plant

yes there has to be a balance ......add more Magnesium ???...LOL

I must be on the right track looking for the blocky plants "built like a tank"

that look healthy all through the season ...like Budai Torpe etc...

aaAAAAnd Are Highly productive with fruit ......

I really Like the looks of ... Boronia .....we shall see how it goes ...

I guess Yukon Quest was good also in small containers ...

If you really, really don't care about taste, the rootstock Emperador Hybrid has a stem about an inch thick. It isn't a dwarf, in fact, quite the opposite. It totally goes amok in its growth habit.

Unfortunately, it is a different species from domestic tomato, and the fruit are hard and green and taste like sweetened wood chips.

I have F2 seeds of Emperador if you would like to try it. I've also crossed Emperador with Beandywine, but at this point I don't know if the fruit are edible.

Thanks ...I actually do care about taste ...just I guess I will go for something with not quite the ultimate Brandywine taste ...if the culture can get me the compact blocky , healthy looking tomato that is highly productive .....
I don't want to reinvent the wheel I just want to try the best candidate varieties
available for my culture pursuit....I am a mere mortal and I will not be able to grow them all...LOL

Thanks for the offer ...but you can use The rootstock for your grafting and crossing projects much better than for my "stoutly exploration/pursuits....LOL

Sungold and sister Golden cherry have unreasonably thick stems, far from the next ones, even dwarfs. But they are not necessarily 'stout', as in, they don't look like they can support themselves, like dwarfs do. (Golden cherry does look to some extent, since the internode distance is much smaller than Sungold and leaves are a bit shorter).
A very upright habit I'd say Moneymaker. It has a really straight stem, and the leaves are pointed upward, even when older. It really looks upright, but it can't support itself either unfortunately (stem is not very thick).

I grow it in the ground, but it appears well suited for a container.

I took a break from sungold this year to make room for some other Cherries to trial ...LOL
I have tried moneymaker and it is an interesting one ...perhaps the greenhouse is still the best place for it ...???

I'm guessing there over 10 of the total released dwarfs from the Dwarf Project that are PL's. A few that come to mind easily are Dwarf Beryl Beauty, Dw Blazing Beauty, Dw Emerald Giant, Dw Golden Gypsy, Dw Jade Beauty, Dw Mr Snow, Dw Orange Cream, Dw Sweet Sue and Sweet Scarlet Dwarf. I'm sure I missed some.

I'm growing lots of dwarfs for the first time this year. Dwarf Mr. Snow is the stoutest of them all for me and was the first to bloom.

I have seeds for Czech's bush and it is cued for my 2017 season LOL

I will have to break down and review the dwarf page listings at Tatiana's site...etc. For some reason I thought they were all Rugose from the dwarf project ..... but there are PL as well .

I have a filter where I (mostly)just ...take a pass on White/ pale yellow listed Tomato varieties ...(Just by preference for yellow orange Pink red brown purple black striped) I did take another look and at Mr. Snow and will have to reconsider if the stout habit is very pronounced .
