Spoiling the spoiler thread with a request:

Ernie's Plump.
Mentioned in several older threads. Currently, PaddyMc had great things to say about this variety and is doing further work over in Crosstalk.

Would like the original and cross if anyone is currently growing, plz save seeds. Hearts did exceptionally well for me this year. I need not look further but can't resist.

Lisa, I have 5 Ernie's Plump seeds. My bag of them has the person's name and an email address on the label. It says Ernie's Plump Indet Lg Fluted Plum. I'll save the seeds back for you if you would like. I don't know anything more about them than what I've already written.

Robert, you're amazing. You must have amassed an incredible collection by your organization and determination. I enjoyed growing some of your peppers this summer!

I grow one or two plants per variety so I would not have an immediate use for the entire bag but thank you for generously offering them. I suggest you look it up here on T'ville, and you and other heart fans may wish to trial it. The particular post I referenced dates to 2012 regarding Heather's swap. PaddyMc recently praised it as well. I'll PM so we can figure this out. Thanks!

Just do the 150 packs.

I'm not expecting everyone to request peppers, unlike tomatoes, so many people may get 2 packs.

My best guess is 100-125 participants, but it's only a guess.

That's going by the past few swaps. And, there are a lot of new members here, since last year. Also, I have no idea if Houzz has a lot of new members, and whether any from that site will be joining the swap.

Cosmonaut Volkov and Crnkovic Yugoslavian seedlings from toms grown in my first MMMM last year. Cool in itself, that circle of life. I'll grow them out to see if leaf form is correct, not sure if a potato leaf cross would show up first generation anyway, but it's some peace of mind.

So, first time seed saver here and I've used the oxi-clean method and getting 70%-80% germination on these two. Is that about right? Seems like I do better than that on store bought seed.

You might experiment with an initial soil drench of compost tea. My seeds sprout and grow much faster when I do that. It's probably the humic acid. I also like using a light as a heat source. I think it mimics the spring sunshine warming the soil.

If you are worried about it just send more then 5. I try for 10+, sometimes I just put in a pinch. I have never done a germination test (at least yet). I always have great germination, even on older seed. Some seed I saved in 2011 (my first year saving) had 5 out of 6 (83%) germinate this year.

I'm growing a mystery hot pepper. A link that describes them better with pictures http://www.tomatoville.com/showthrea...580#post589580

I am wondering if any of you would like seeds from this mystery pepper? If so, they are at the seed saving stage now.

Aside from the heat Robert, do they have a good flavour

They do taste good. I would compare them to Fresno - just hotter.

Answer found - they are Long Red Cayenne - not a mystery variety anymore.
