TomatoFest Tickets

Hi All,

I just checked out the TomatoFest tickets online. Here is a link

Advance purchase price is 95.00 before April 1st. Starting 4/1, the tickets go up to 110.00. Wow.

From what I remember, last year's tickets were only 75.00. I was just speaking to DH about attending TomatoFest (before I seen the new online price). His parents live about 20 minutes away from the event, so we wouldn't have to pay for a hotel.

Don't get me wrong, but 110.00 is a lot of money for a one day event. There are more exciting things to do with 110.00.

Any thoughts.

P.S. BTW, Tomatofest is having a 1/2 sale on 65 varieties.

Most of these varieties are new to me. Which are worth growing?

CHOPTAG is free but they charge $99.00 for parking

You got that wrong. It's not $99 for parking.... parking's
free, but if you want Earl and Jerry to move their vehicles from behind yours, you have to pony up the $99!
Of course the CHOPTAG bylaws have fine print provision that excludes you from this "fee" if you win the best tasting variety competition.... Good thing I brought along one of Craig's Green Giants or I would have never gotten out of that park!

It is a lot of money, though it is easy in Carmel to spend at least that much. I would imagine that it is quite and event and the wineries and sponsoring restaurants (for what ever that means) are pretty good places.

I won't be there, I would rather spend that kind of money elsewhere (like Napa or Sonoma). And, after last years NORCATT, I realize that it takes somthing extra to taste that many tomatoes, and I don't have it.

Ok I would like to hear from people who have gone to the event was it worth the money? What about seeds? Knowing my husband he would be like (put that in a napkin and plant it)

Rumor has it the 2006 TomatoFest guest list includes Paris Hilton, Simon Cowell, Hugh Heffner, Kieth Richards, Mayor Ray Nagan, the Emir of Dubai, Ellen Degeneris, Howard Stern, Bill O'Reilly, Courtney Love, James Carville, Linda Tripp, Tucker Carlson, Jimmy Swaggart, Larry Flint, Newt Gingrich, Ted Kennedy, Monica Lewinsky, Chuck Colson, Anna Nichol Smith, Judge Judy, the dehybridizing staff from Seeds by Design, Monsanto's board of directors, and the entire cast of Leguna Beach just to name a few. It's got to be worth $110 bucks just to stand alongside the red carpet entrance and oogle the gentry.

I can't believe I just saw Paris Hilton's name and, "the gentry", in the same paragraph...

BTW I heard, and you forgot to mention, Dick 'sure shot' Cheney will be there among the luminaries with his tomato skeet demonstration...

That will be held after he samples wines from all the wineries.

Wait a minute, I recognize Miss Tomato, she was demonstrating how to make sushi as a celebrity chef somewhere. Terrible knife skills...don't know why I hung around and watched her anyway...
