Jump starting 2017 with seeds - Page 2

Im looking at a couple of sprouts right now. I started on Jan. 3rd.

I started peppers at the end of December. I will start tomatoes next week. My first year starting from seed and excited that little sprouts are sticking up.

Still waiting and time is going so slow.

According to this site last average frost date is 10. April.

My plan is to start seeds indoor at end of February, around 25th and when they germinate, probably about 5-10 March in cold frame outside. Transplant in garden if all goes well last week of April or start of May.

Reinforcements will be started from seed 2 weeks later, I hope first round will do well however. As a backup, in worst case scenario, maybe will start another round at end of March.

I started mine a few days ago.i already have a few sprouts. I messed up last year started to late with the seeds.then i planted out early without saving some back up plants.im glad i keep a Journal.

I'm in the Dallas, Tx area(zone 8). I planted my tomatoes the first week of January. I then planted again for back up last week. One batch i planted then put in a clear plastic tub outside,then the second batch I put under grow lights in the garage micro greenhouse I got at Big Lots...

Feb 1st seems to work for me. My plants are typically ahead of the other sellers at market by 2-3 weeks, and the earlier you plant here typically the better. We had 2 late frost last year but that isn't common and I really hope we don't this year.

My last frost date is May 15, so I'll start tomatoes about March 15. Actually I've got some old seed I can justify starting early, so peppers and old seed will be beginning of March. I'm so jealous of you folks who already started!
