Default Sucker

I have a question for the good tomato people out there.

If you were to root a sucker from a mother plant, and then root a sucker from that original sucker and continue to repeat, would you eventually get to a point that the plants are no longer viable?

Take out environmental issues and fertilizer regiments, etc from the equation.

I'm curious what people think or know.
