Yellow Leaves at Growth Stem - Page 3

I sprayed last night with a sulfur/permethrin mix. I did see some of the little critters, but not a lot. I am leaning towards iron deficiency coupled with mites. I don't think my DLH is going to make it- the growth stem is dead, and so are the suckers below it. This really went after the new growth. The plants were stout and beautiful before this. It almost looks like someone sprayed RoundUp on the growth stem. Aarrrgh!

Be careful with anything you spray after this. I have used sulfur successfully on Tomato Russet Mites but you cant spray much of anything else (I think oil based) for 30 days.

It doesn't take a lot of spider mites to do a whole lot of damage. They breed like crazy and the youngest ones are very hard to see except under high magnification. You need at least 10X magnification to see adults, higher magnification if you want to see the smallest nymphs.

Darin, if the stems are still green, you have a fighting chance. I do not think you have an iron deficiency at all. Mites, both spider and especially TRMs mimicking an iron deficiency almost perfectly. You might want to Google and read up on them.

New growth will come up from the bottom if treated successfully. I have used straight permethrin, never sulfur, the permethrin I use is not oil based. I would want you to treat everyone 4 days for 3 times, so you might want to look into a non oil based product so you can use it more often, if that is what you have. (I'm not familiar with it)
