Tomato internodal spaces and sunlight

Since I started my garden some trees have grown up around it and I am wondering if my plants are getting enough sun. Can I tell by looking to see how big the internodal spaces on my plants are to get an idea about sunlight adequacy?

I think they grow longer with less sun. Particularly lack of morning sun. Just my opinion from what I have experienced growing here at a few different spots.

Well, yes, it would be a good indicator, if you had exact records of previous years for same variety.
The first sign is a bit paler green and less flowers/less flowers setting. After that the internode, and when the sun is really quite lacking the leaves also have a somewhat droopy look to them.
