"Propellar Heads" no more......
95/100 varieties, 92% of them spudleafs, have now germinated as of today and most are in the 1 true leaf stage. There is no doubt, even under a 10X headpiece, that the PL leaf shows up early. It is difficult to tell at this early point in time what leaf type the 8 regular leaf ones being used for crosses are.
Most plant stems are starting to bulk up and show a pinkish red color. Probably another 2 weeks or so and I'll be transplanting 600 of the little beauties!! Best regards, Spud |

Propellar Heads.... no more
John,
The avatar pic is indeed a potato leaf, courtesy of TGRC at UCal Davis. It was chosen as the only PL pic that met the T"ville requirements for avatar dimensions of about 100x 150 pixels. The web addy for the pic is as follows:http://tgrc.ucdavis.edu/images/thumb...ers,leaves.jpg Take a look!!, c gene is potato leaf, a recessive gene with the symbol "c" last time I checked. I"ll take TGRC's word that the pic is correct New pics of PL varieties will be taken later this year in my garden when my new digital camera is due about May 1st.. I'm only growing about 8 or 10 regular leaf varieties, mainly blacks from Russia for cluster fruiting and shape. They are for a crossing project that I am doing this year Regards, Spud. |

Hey Tom,
Fill in the pool, I might even send you some of those "contraband" spudleaf seeds I have to fill the empty spaces. Regards (chuckle), Spud |

I have never grown any potato leaf varieties before but after hearing all the talk about them I got out some seeds traded to me 2 years ago that said White Potato Leaf on them and took them out to the greenhouse to plant, not really thinking they would come up but now have 4 already sprouted. I don't have a pool to fill in not sure what I will do with them, lol.
