Default Hungarian Peppers- Germination Problem

Do seeds of Kalocsai v-2 and Feherozon Hungarian peppers take longer to germinate? I started both 2/16/08, 12 Kalocsai and 4 Feherozon, and I have zero germination to date. I don’t believe it is my seed starting method as I have 96% (48 out of 50) germination of the other 7 pepper varieties I’ve started.

If the varieties are not known to require long germination periods is there anything I can, or should do, to wake them up?

Neo -- Last year my Feherozon Hungarian took 7 days to germinate. That was pretty consistent with my other peppers

Gary, thanks for the feedback. I guess I'll have to wait til next year for the Feherozen, I spent my full load (4 seeds) on this germination.

I still have a few of the Kalocsai v-2, maybe I'll try soaking overnight and then planting.

You should wait a bit more. Peppers germination time is very dependable. After 2 years of storage some of them show less than 50% of germination results...

Update, the Feherozon has 100% germination, last sprouts came up 3/12/08. Still waiting on the Kalocsai, only 2 of 12 are up.

I have problems with germination of chilies, too. I got 9 seeds of Aitutaki Chili; they have been collected directly on the beach of this paradise. The first three I soaked for 24 hours in slightly warm water - no germination after 7 days. Then I put three others in camomile tea (slightly warm, 24 hours) - no germination, too, till now. (My others peppers did perfectly.) Now there are three more Aitutaki Chilies left - how can I get germination??? I do want these chilies!!! Any help more than welcome, clara
